Strike for a Cure Raises Money for MS Society

They bowled strikes and spares at Olympia Lanes in an effort to raise money to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo) Dozens of people laced up their bowling shoes Sunday to help raise money for the MS Society's annual Strike 4 a Cure event.

They took over Olympia Lanes in St. Joseph for two hours of bowling and to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis.

MS often affects people in the prime of their life, and has a wide range of symptoms making it difficult to diagnose and treat.

"When I was first diagnosed I was in a wheel chair, and look at me know, I'm standing, I'm drving, I'm working part time now, there are all kinds of things that I look forward to," said Mary French, an MS patient and participant in Strike 4 a Cure.

More than 55,000 people are affected by Multiple Sclerosis in the area. That includes caregivers and family members who must assist those who have the disease.

All of the proceeds raised during Sunday's event stay in the area to help those in Northwest  Missouri.
