Two Juveniles Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident

One juvenile faces felony involuntary manslaughter charges after a crash that took the life of a St. Joseph woman.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Two juveniles are in custody and face charges after a traffic accident led to the death of a St. Joseph woman.

Two males, both 16, are in custody following the accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

One juvenile faces charges of felony involuntary manslaughter and felony tampering with a vehicle. The other faces a misdemeanor tampering charge.

Both are being held in custody pending hearings on Monday.

The two males were in a truck that struck a van driven by Joellen Abbott, 40.

Abbott was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.

Further complicating the case is the discovery the truck the teenagers were driving had been reported stolen from rural Buchanan County.

Law enforcement are still investigating the truck theft.

Identities of the two juveniles held in custody have not been released.
