USDA Report Shows Increase in Food Insecurity

New data from the U.s. Department of Agriculture shows 1 in 6 Missouri families struggled with hunger from 2010 to 2012.
(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) New data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows 1 in 6 Missouri families struggled with hunger from 2010 to 2012.

Nationally, close to 49 million people lived in households that were food insecure in 2012. That's just over 14 percent of adults and more than 21 percent of all children living in food insecurity.

According to the report, food insecurity has increased by 3.9 percent in the U.S. in the last decade. During the same time period, Missouri has seen an increase of nearly 7 percent.
