(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Dozens of walkers from community churches hit Hyde Park in St. Joseph on Sunday, hoping to join the effort to eliminate world hunger.

This annual CROP walk is one of more than 2,000 across the country.

Communities collect donations for the cause to raise money for world hunger and to raise awareness about world poverty.

Twenty-five percent of the money raised goes to the Interserv's Mobile Meals Program and the Open Door Food Kitchen.

"The churches get together, meet new people, make new friends, with the common sharing of this is what we're doing for the world and to reduce poverty in the world," said volunteer David Berger.

This was the 26th year of the annual CROP walk.
