Weather Slows Down Salvation Army's Toy Drive

The Salvation Army was collecting toys for its second annual 'Fill-the Truck' toy drive on Sunday.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Salvation Army collected for its second annual 'Fill-the Truck' toy drive.

Wal-Mart and The Salvation Army partnered for the second year and collected toys for underprivileged children.

Toy donations were slower than usual this year.

Volunteers think the weather may have been the reason.

Even though they didn't collect as many toys as expected, they're not worried.

Volunteers said the community is generous and will still find a way to donate before Christmas.

"Toys are piling up at other places. Today, I don't know how much we'll end up with, but whatever it is, it will be used and it will go toward a good cause," said Cpt. Chuck Cook.

One of those other places is here at KQ2.

We are also collecting toys for The Salvation Army.

Feel free to stop by the station, any time before Christmas to drop off toys.
