The Lady Eagles (26-3) are the first team from St. Joseph to win a softball state title.
Just as they did to Marionville the day before, LeBlond capitalized on South Callaway errors and jumped out to a healthy lead. Mackie Browning reached home on a throwing error to kick off a six-run third inning for the Lady Eagles. It was one of two South Callaway miscues in the frame.
Browning, Sophia Gentry, Brenna Knapp, and Dayle Dickens all drove in runs in the inning as well.
Claire Doolan padded the lead in the fourth with a two-run double.
Pitcher Kennadi Barron had South Callaway under control until the fifth, when the Lady Eagles committed both of their errors. That lead to their lead being cut in half at 8-4.
The Lady Bulldogs made a furious comeback attempt in the final frame as well, hanging two more runs before Brooke Craw grounded out to Browning to end it.
Barron finished with three strikeouts while allowing 11 hits and two walks.
LeBlond slapped nine hits and drew five walks off South Callaway starter Abby Bartley.
