Winter Storm Passes through with Ease

The first official day of winter brought nearly a foot of snow in some areas. MoDot, Missouri Highway Patrol and City crews prepared early; leaving little to no damage around town.
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The first official day of Winter brought heavy snowfall.

Some areas saw close to a foot of snow.

The Missouri Department of Transportation, Missouri Highway Patrol and the City of St. Joseph worked feverishly, before and after the storm.

MoDot had more than 100 crews within a 20-county radius.

They also paired with Jefferson County and Springfield crews to keep busy highways, like I-29 and US-36, safe.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported three fatalities this weekend, and slick roads didn't appear to cause either accident.

Troop H Headquarters reported three accidents this weekend, with ice or snow as factors in the crashes.

The City of St. Joseph cleared more than 400 miles worth of streets in town, including emergency routes and secondary roads.

All crews will continue to work overnight in case the roads or highways freeze.
