Woman Claims Age, Full-Figure Led to Water Park Ejection

A woman claims her mature, full-figure got her kicked out of a Kansas City area water park.
(INDEPENDENCE, Mo.) A woman claims her mature, full-figure got her kicked out of a Kansas City area water park.

Madelyn Sheaffer says she was kicked out of Adventure Oasis in Independence, Mo., after she refused to cover up her bikini.

"Why should I have to put a pair of shorts on when I'm wearing the same size bikini bottoms as the other girls in the pool," the 42-year-old Sheaffer said.

She says she was first asked to put on a pair of shorts. She refused and was then asked to cover up or leave. She again refused and was escorted out by police.

Sheaffer is claiming she was discriminated against because of her age and fuller figure.

"There were other girls wearing string bikinis, you know, 15, 16, 17, 18 years old," Sheaffer said. "And you know, beautiful, young bodies. And they're not being told to cover up. Am I allowed to have a mature body?"

Adventure Oasis did not immediately return ABC's calls. But the City of Independence said the facility made the call, and they rely on the park's judgement.
