Before moving to St. Joseph, Carla worked as a Producer for the ABC affiliate in Memphis at WATN and in production at WMC.

A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Carla was the Editor-in-Chief for her high school's newspaper as well as a contributor for the Millington Star.  While at MTSU, Carla wrote for the student run newspaper, Sidelines, and behind the scenes at MTTV, the universities news station. While at MTSU, Carla was trained by MTSU professor and former Nashville anchor, Chris Clark, who helped launch Oprah Winfrey's career.
Carla has traveled to New York City to shadow former CNN News Correspondent and anchor, Soledad O'Brien, who also serves as Carla's mentor.

Carla enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.
She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalist.
